Pick yourself up...

In the middle of the night, well, okay, it was ten p.m., I had an interesting thought. I thrilled to Obama's Inauguration and was remembering his words: "Pick yourself up..." I thought, "He said nothing about waiting for a government bailout." I'm not going to wait for the "bailout." Hey, I didn't even get my stimulus package last year. My earned income was only $1000 for 2007 so even though I've paid taxes since the middle of the last century, I didn't qualify.

For a long time I have found it ironic that this country that was settled by folks who left everything and sometimes everyone and set out for the US with their belongings in a cardboard suitcase, endured an horrific and/or arduous journey to get here is now peopled by folks who expect someone to give them a handout. Now, I certainly realize that that's true only for some, but what could we accomplish is we all got as determined as our forebears.

We could, with our hearts and minds set on it, turn the economy around overnight. I also know that while I'm the one who is responsible for my own economy, economic success is a team sport. I am thrilled to be on your team, using my thoughts and my keyboard to share thoughts with you.

What one thing could each one of us do today, how about right now, to pick ourselves up? The next line from Obama's speech, was "dust ourselves off." What if we each dusted off some of the limiting thoughts that lurk in our lives? What if we spent 6 minutes imagining and feeling really wealthy? What if we dared to take one step today to birth that wealth into physical reality?

Having spent as much time near tidal water as I have, I know the truth of the statement, "A rising tide floats all boats." The incoming tide of our wealth starts with our thoughts and beliefs; choose the flood tide thoughts.
